Delta Air Lines and T-Mobile announced that members of the SkyMiles frequent-flyer program will get complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi service for the duration of the member’s flight or flights.
The offer is open to all members regardless of which mobile operator they use. Currently, T-Mobile customers receive the service at no charge.
“We believe staying connected while traveling should be an easy, seamless experience,” said T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert.
The newly free service will become available on most domestic flights starting in February and Delta expects to expand it to some 700 aircraft by year end. International flights and regional aircraft will be equipped to offer the free service in 2024.
In a statement, Delta CEO Ed Bastian called the ability to stay connected while seeing the world “foundational.”
